Each year, the state Senate joins 75 state entities in participating in the State Charitable Campaign (SCC) to help raise money for nonprofit organizations around Oklahoma. The Senate’s campaign ran from September through the end of October and raised a record amount of $14,545.

Legislative Office of Fiscal Transparency (LOFT) will evaluate agency spending and performance

Senate President Pro Tem-designate Greg Treat on Thursday filed legislation to create a legislative fiscal watchdog office to help lawmakers better fulfill their oversight role of state agency spending and performance.

Senate Bill 1 creates the Legislative Office of Fiscal Transparency (LOFT) to provide the Legislature with objective, verified data lawmakers can then use as they consider and make critical policy decisions.

A legislative working group has made good progress in its work to develop recommendations for the implementation of medical marijuana, said the Senate President Pro Tempore-designate and Oklahoma House Speaker.

Senate President Pro Tempore-designate Greg Treat and House Speaker Charles McCall appointed bipartisan members from their respective chambers to work on permanent recommendations for the implementation of medical marijuana following the passage of State Question 788.

Members of the public have another way to share their input on the regulation and implementation of medical marijuana in Oklahoma courtesy of a new e-mail address announced by the Oklahoma Senate Pro Tem-designate and the Oklahoma House Speaker.

Last week's meeting of the legislative working group on medical marijuana implementation appointed by Pro Tem-designate Greg Treat and Speaker Charles McCall featured a public comment period. Nearly two dozen citizens signed-in to speak during the public comment period of the meeting.

Senator Greg Treat, president pro tempore-designate of the Oklahoma Senate, announced his selections of Senate appropriations subcommittee chairs for the next legislative session that convenes in February. Treat also named the vice chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee, and named the chair of the Senate Finance Committee, which will return to a standing committee during the next session.

Oklahoma Senate President Pro Tempore-designate Greg Treat and House Speaker Charles McCall on Thursday announced the lawmakers who will serve on the bipartisan, bicameral working group on medical marijuana implementation.

The legislative leaders announced the formation of the group last week. The first meeting will be July 25. Meetings will be open to the public. The working group will meet with various stakeholders and will make recommendations on a permanent regulatory framework for the implementation of State Question 788.

Oklahoma Senate President Pro Tempore-designate Greg Treat, R-Edmond, released the list of approved 2018 interim studies. A total of 43 requests were approved.

Treat requested an interim study on the development of a legislative budget office that would provide additional data and resources to state lawmakers. read more.
