Stanley selected to serve on several Senate committees

OKLAHOMA CITY – Senator Brenda Stanley was appointed by incoming Senate President Pro Tempore Greg Treat to serve on four Senate committees for the 57th Legislature. The Oklahoma City Republican will serve on the Senate standing committees for Retirement and Insurance, Finance, and Veterans and Military Affairs. She will also serve on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Education.

“It’s an honor to be tapped to serve on these committees” said Stanley, R-Oklahoma City. “I’m ready to hit the ground running and begin our work in the upcoming legislative session. There’s a lot to learn and much to accomplish and I’m eager to get started.”

Stanley was elected to the Senate last month. Prior to her election, she earned her Administration Certification from the University of Central Oklahoma and served as principal at Cleveland Bailey Elementary School in the Mid-Del School District from 1996-2006 and at Westfall Elementary in the Choctaw/Nicoma Park School District from 2006 until her retirement in 2016.

The Senate will hold a one day organizational meeting on January 8 and the 2019 session will formally get underway on February 4.
