The Senate Appropriations Committee has given approval to Senate Bill 1150 which will require voters to show identification when they cast their ballots. Sen. John Ford, who represents Craig, Nowata and Washington Counties, is author of the measure, which would require voters to show identification at the polls.
“Voters could use a valid voter identification card, driver license, passport, state identification card, a copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check or paycheck, or any other government document showing the voter’s name and address,” Ford said.
Ford said he was extremely pleased with Wednesday’s committee vote, and looked forward to presenting the measure to the full Senate.
“The decisions Oklahoma voters make are too important to leave this process vulnerable to fraud. This legislation will help ensure the integrity of that process,” Ford said.
If the measure is approved by the full Senate, it would then move to the House of Representatives for committee consideration.
