Sen. Paul Scott continues service as vice chairman of Appropriations Subcommittee on Select Agencies

OKLAHOMA CITY –

Sen. Paul Scott, R-Duncan, says the Appropriations Subcommittee on Select Agencies is working jointly with the House of Representatives to provide oversight and guidance for more than 50 state agencies. He serves as the vice chairman of the committee.

Agencies that fall under the Select Agencies Subcommittee do not receive state funding, but instead operate on revenue generated by fees and fines each agency collects. The committee oversees several important agencies including the Grand River Dam Authority, Turnpike Authority, Public Employees Retirement System and Lottery Commission.

“Our Senate committee is currently working together with the House to efficiently use our time and resources to oversee the agencies that fall under the Select Agencies Subcommittee,” Scott said. “We perform joint budget hearings to review each agency’s proposed budget, and often times we visit agency facilities to meet with employees and listen to their needs, comments and concerns. It’s an honor to be a part of overseeing these important agencies that provide vital services for the state.”

The Select Agencies Subcommittee is comprised of six Senate members and is one of six subcommittees under the full Senate Appropriations Committee.
