Sen. Brent Howard will be serving in additional leadership roles for the 59th Legislature. Senate Pro Tempore Greg Treat appointed the Altus Republican to serve as chair of both the Senate Judiciary Committee and the Appropriations Subcommittee on Public Safety and Judiciary. He will also be continuing his service as vice chair of the Finance Committee and as the Senate’s chief presiding officer.

"I appreciate the committee chairmanships I have been entrusted with and the greater opportunity to affect policy and budget decisions across the state," Howard said. "I’m proud of the confidence my Senate colleagues have in me, knowing that I’m fair and well-versed in the legislative rules. I will continue to work with them to ensure the Senate remains the most deliberative body in the state. "

Howard will also sit on the Energy and Telecommunications, Appropriations, and Rules Committees. He is also the chair of the Joint Committee on State-Tribal Relations and a member of the Senate Tax Reform Working Group.

The Senate will convene on Tuesday, Jan. 3 for an organizational day and the first session of the 59th Legislature will begin on Monday, Feb. 6. To learn more about Sen. Howard, visit https://oksenate.gov/senators/brent-howard.
