Haste appointed to help lead national Health Innovations Task Force

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. John Haste, R-Broken Arrow, has been appointed to serve as vice chair of the National Conference of State Legislature’s (NCSL) Health Innovations Task Force.

NCSL’s Task Force on Innovations in State Health Systems is one of seven task forces consisting of 20 to 30 legislators and legislative staff, who are appointed by the NCSL president and staff chair.

“I’m honored to be named vice chair of this important national task force that has allowed me to share how Oklahoma is addressing the critical health needs of our citizens, as well as learn how other states are doing the same,” Haste said. “Collaboration among state legislators nationwide is important to learn what the best and most efficient and cost-effective systems, programs, and other policies are to ensure a robust health care system for all citizens.”

Haste was first appointed to the task force by Senate Pro Tem Greg Treat in 2022. The task force meets in-person and virtually throughout the year, as they help to develop guidance for legislators and legislative staff on various state health policies such as leveraging new technologies within the health care system.

In the Oklahoma Legislature, Haste serves as vice chair of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee, as well as the co-chair of the Health and Human Services Working Group of the Joint Committee on Pandemic Relief Funding, which was created to help allocate the state’s portion of $1.87 billion in federal American Rescue Plan Act funds. He also serves as the chair of both the Senate Aeronautics and Transportation Committee and the Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government and Transportation.
