Bice takes oath, begins first senate term

Stephanie Bice is now officially on the job as State Senator for District 22.  The Oklahoma City Republican was sworn in during a ceremony at the Capitol on Tuesday as friends, family and other supporters looked on from the Senate gallery.

“My motivation for becoming a member of the Senate was to create a better future for my children—that’s what I want for all the citizens in District 22,” Bice said.  “It means working to strengthen Oklahoma standards in our schools so that students are better prepared for their next step in life.  That in turn will help us create the kind of work force that will attract good paying jobs and grow our economy.  I’m tremendously grateful to the people of this district for giving me this opportunity to serve them.”

Bice is a partner and director of business development at Smirk New Media, a digital media consulting and marketing firm.  She and her husband, Geoffrey, are the proud parents of daughters Isabella and Ainsley.

Senate President Pro Tempore Brian Bingman said Bice would be a tremendous asset to the Legislature.

“We are very happy to welcome Senator Bice to the State Senate.  She’s a talented businesswoman who cares deeply about our state.  I know she will do a great job for the people of District 22,” said Bingman, R-Sapulpa.

The Senate will hold a one day organizational meeting on January 6, and the 2015 session will formally get underway on February 2.
