Bergstrom attends ceremonial signing of Second Amendment Sanctuary State Act

Sen. Micheal Bergstrom, R-Adair, recently joined Gov. Kevin Stitt for the ceremonial signing of Senate Bill 631, also known as the Second Amendment Sanctuary State Act. Bergstrom was a co-author of the measure, which was passed during the 2021 legislative session and went into effect on April 26 upon the governor’s approval.

“Securing the rights of our law-abiding citizens is always a priority of mine at the Capitol, and I was proud to serve as the co-author for the Second Amendment Sanctuary State Act,” Bergstrom said. “This measure will ensure that Oklahoma follows the Constitution and protects the Second Amendment at all costs – the right to bear arms shall not be infringed in our state.”

Under the measure, any future federal, state or municipal laws, executive orders, administrative orders, court orders or rules or regulations ordering the buy-back, confiscation or surrender of firearms, gun accessories or ammunition from law-abiding Oklahomans will be considered an infringement on Second Amendment rights and unenforceable in the state.
