OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Frank Simpson was tapped by his colleagues for one of the Senate highest leadership roles Wednesday when he was appointed Assistant Majority Floor Leader. The Springer Republican was elected last month to serve his last term in the Senate.
“I’m humbled that my caucus has entrusted me with this leadership role for our caucus. It’s truly an honor, and I want to thank my colleagues for their support,” said Simpson. “We have eight new freshmen members in our caucus who will bring new ideas and perspectives to the Senate. I’m looking forward to hearing those and working with my colleagues to continue strengthening our state’s economy and improving the lives of Oklahomans.”
The Assistant Majority Floor Leaders helps the Majority Floor Leader in determining the order of business for the Senate and aid with the flow of legislation through the Senate.
The Senate President Pro Tempore-elect also named the chairmanship and vice chairmanship assignments recently. Simpson will continue serving as the Chair of the Senate Veterans and Military Affairs Committee as well as the Chair of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Health and Human Services.
