Senators Kevin Matthews, D-Tulsa, and Jo Anna Dossett, D-Tulsa, received committee appointments Tuesday for the 58thSession of the Oklahoma Legislature.
Matthews has served in the Senate since 2014. He will serve on the Appropriations Subcommittee of General Government and the Appropriations, Retirement and Insurance, Public Safety, and Transportation committees.
“Each of these committees is of tremendous importance to the people I serve in North Tulsa. Every seat I hold gives me a voice and a vote on their behalf,” Matthews said. “I want to thank Senate Democratic leader Kay Floyd for these appointments, and I look forward to working with my fellow members on issues that will make Oklahoma a better place to live and work for all our citizens.”
Dossett will begin her first term by serving on the Appropriations Subcommittee of Select Agencies and the Health and Human Services, Education and Transportation committees.
“We know the COVID-19 pandemic is going to continue to impact state services and agencies. This will be a challenging session, and we could be dealing with the impact of this virus for some time to come,” Dossett said. “Our task is to look at not only the immediate needs we’re facing, but how the policy and budget decisions we make this session will affect our citizens in the years ahead.”
