BEGGS, OKLA. — Senator Bryan Logan, R-Paden, released the following statement after severe storms moved through eastern Oklahoma late Friday night, causing damage and loss of life in Okmulgee County and surrounding communities.
“Last night’s storms brought heartbreaking news to eastern Oklahoma,” Sen. Logan said. “We now know that at least two lives were lost near Beggs, and my prayers are with their families, friends and neighbors as they face an unimaginable loss.
“In the midst of this tragedy, we have also seen the very best of our communities. I want to thank our local first responders, emergency management officials and law enforcement agencies who acted quickly to protect lives and respond to those in need. I’m also grateful for the swift assistance provided by the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, whose partnership and support have been invaluable during this response.
“I also appreciate Governor Kevin Stitt’s quick action in deploying Oklahoma Task Force One to assist with recovery and search efforts. Emergency Management Director Annie Vest and the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management have also been on the ground helping coordinate resources, along with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and many other dedicated public servants.
“As daylight reveals the full extent of the damage, our focus remains on supporting affected families and helping these communities recover. Oklahomans are resilient, and I know neighbors will continue to step up and support one another in the days ahead. Please continue to keep everyone impacted by these storms in your prayers.”
