OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Grant Green, R-Wellston, recognized on Tuesday, March 26 several local students who received awards for their outstanding academic accomplishments.
Green and Rep. Danny Williams, R-Seminole, presented five high-achieving students with legislative citations recognizing their hard work to qualify for the All-Oklahoma Academic Team or the Oklahoma Association of Community Colleges’ Presidents Tuition Waiver Award.
“These students represent some of the best and the brightest young minds in my district,” Green said. “I’m thrilled to recognize these outstanding students who have gone above and beyond in their commitment to their studies. I can’t wait to see what they accomplish next.”
The following students were recognized:
Seminole State College students Benjamin Parker, of Shawnee, and Ryan Carlisle, of Foss, were named to the All-Oklahoma Academic Team. This recognition is awarded to two-year college students who show outstanding academic achievement and dedication to their coursework. Students must be nominated by their college president. To qualify, students must hold a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5 and be eligible to graduate during the current academic year. Oklahoma is one of 39 states that participates in the All-USA Academic Team Program, which promotes excellence at two-year colleges.
Bowlegs High School student Dillon Sullivan, Seminole High School senior Hannah Upchurch and Prague High School student Ethan Rich each received the Oklahoma Association of Community Colleges’ Presidents Tuition Waiver Award. These students will each receive a $1,000 tuition waiver to be used during the 2024-2025 academic year. Recipients of this award are selected for their excellent academic achievement and their leadership capabilities.
