Senator Green Mourns Wellston Firefighter Joe Flake

WELLSTON – Sen. Grant Green, R-Wellston, today issued the following statement on the tragic loss of Wellston firefighter Joe Flake.

“I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Joe Flake in the line of duty. Joe was a brave soul who recently committed his life to public service. After retiring from a long and fulfilling career, Joe was determined to give back to the people of Wellston who knew him and loved him. He joined the Wellston Fire Department and put his life on the line to keep Lincoln County residents safe. Tragically, Joe lost his life after fighting a wildfire and protecting his community.

"Joe was also a beloved member of my extended family. He was a great man and a wonderful addition to our family. We all loved having him around and spending time with him. Joe was also an upstanding member of the Wellston community, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. My family and I are praying for the Flake family and the Wellston Fire Department as they endure this sudden and heartbreaking loss. Joe was taken from us far too soon.”
