OKLAHOMA CITY - Sen. Jessica Garvin, R-Duncan, issued the following statement Monday, responding to McClain County being approved for federal disaster assistance.
"We're extremely grateful for the quick approval of federal disaster assistance for McClain County. This is an important step as we work together to rebuild and repair homes and businesses impacted by last week's storms. I’ve been so touched by the strength and resiliency of local residents as they work to recover from this horrible storm, as well as the first responders, utility workers and many other volunteers who have worked tirelessly to help the victims.
“Oklahomans are no stranger to adversity, but it never ceases to amaze me how our citizens come together in times of need. Residents in Cole and surrounding areas have a long road ahead of them, but it’s a relief to know that they have this federal assistance available to help them, along with the support of their fellow Oklahomans as they rebuild and recover.”
