Senator Burns Congratulates McCurtain County Students on Statewide Poster Contest Recognition

OKLAHOMA CITY – Senator George Burns, R-Pollard, today recognized two young students from McCurtain County for their award-winning entries in the Oklahoma Department of Transportation’s 2025 Trash Poster Contest.

First grader Alyla Gribnitz of Lukfata Elementary School in Broken Bow and fifth grader Lydia Bundy of Bundy Homeschool in Idabel each placed third in their respective grade levels out of nearly 4,000 entries submitted from across the state across all grade levels.

“These talented students are not only creative, but they’re also setting an example for all of us when it comes to taking care of our environment,” Senator Burns said. “I’m incredibly proud of Alyla and Lydia for using their artistic talents to help promote a cleaner Oklahoma. “The dedication shown by these students and their teachers is inspiring. Programs like this help instill a lifelong commitment to public service, personal responsibility and pride in our great state.”

Gribnitz’s poster, titled “Keep The World Clean!!! GO GREEN”, was submitted under the guidance of her teacher, Deleta Brumley. Bundy’s artwork, titled Before Oklahoma is in a fix, help me clean up ROUTE 66”, was created with the help of her teacher, Rikel Bundy.

As winners, both students will receive various prizes including a monetary award, a certificate, and copies of their posters. Their artwork will also be featured in ODOT’s 2026 calendar, set to be released in December. In addition, their teachers will receive vouchers for classroom supplies and a two-night stay at an Oklahoma State Park.

Winning posters can be viewed online at oklahoma.gov/odot/tpc.
