SENATE WINS AGAIN!!! House Strikes Out

For the third straight year, the Senate Redhots are the champions of bedlam baseball, defeating the House 8-7 in Tuesday’s after session game at the AT&T Bricktown Ballpark.
Senate Coach David “Casey” Myers called the game, which benefited the American Cancer Society, “spectacular.”

“I knew stealth was going to win over youth…matter of fact, they were coming on strong in the last inning and it looked like we weren’t going to be able to hold them, but I believe one of them collapsed going around second and let us win,” said Coach Myers following the victory.

Randy “Bass-O” Bass’ fifth inning bullet single to right ignited a four-run Senate rally and then the upper chamber held on for an 8-7 victory despite the offensive exploits of Representatives John Carey and Lance Cargill. Cargill provided the single most exciting play of the game, when his deep blast to right field turned into an inside-the-park home run.

Bass also had an extra base hit to left in the midst of another Senate rally and, along with Pruitt, anchored a nearly airtight left side of the Senate infield. Pruitt’s departure following a foot injury, however, opened a floodgate of errors that let the House close the gap before Senate first baseman Charlie Laster squeezed the final out of the game to begin the celebration.

“What a great game, (a) close game again. We had good defensive play in the outfield, really to be honest…Mazzei, Laughlin…my roommate (Charlie Wyrick)…the sun got in his eyes, but he’s alright—I dropped one too,” Bass laughed.

“Broadway” Mike Morgan summed it all up.

“We had a lot of fun, raised a little money for charity and most of all the Senate beat the House and proved once again it is truly the upper chamber,” Morgan said.
