Members of the Senate Democratic Caucus applauded Sen. David Holt for his leadership Wednesday in garnering Senate approval for a House bill which will provide support to the Oklahoma agency that oversees the administering of the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
“The Senate Democrats want to thank Senator Holt and the 24 Senate Republicans who supported House Bill 1398 for their willingness to work with our President on this important legislation,” said Adelson, D-Tulsa. “I’m proud to say that today Senate Republicans put aside partisan politics and joined with their Democrat colleagues across the country in this effort to rebuild our nation’s economy.”
HB 1398 funds administrative and operational expenses of the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission (OESC) by transferring $10 million in federal money to the state agency. As one of the state’s largest public employers, the Commission helps Oklahomans find employment and pays unemployment benefits to the unemployed. The Commission also plays a vital role in both administering and overseeing programs funded through President Barack Obama’s American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
