Senate Co-President Pro Tempore Glenn Coffee, R-Oklahoma City, made the following statement regarding Gov. Brad Henry’s proposal to expand pre-K programs to include three-year-olds.
“There are existing state programs that are currently under-funded or under-utilized. Before committing to the governor’s proposal for a new government program, the Legislature needs a clearer picture of how he plans to pay for his proposals for massive spending increases. Senate Republicans believe we need to take care of our current commitments to education, transportation and public safety before spending more money on new government programs,” Coffee said.
