The State Senate has voiced its support for the thousands of Oklahomans who have already been deployed. That support came in the form of Senate Concurrent Resolution 13, co-authored by the Democrat and Republican leaders of the Senate.
We have more than 3,600 Oklahomans in the National Guard and the Reserve who have already been activated. Its important that those men and women and their families know we appreciate their sacrifice and stand united with them, said Senate Majority Leader Ted Fisher of Sapulpa.
The resolution, which passed unanimously, is also co-authored by leaders of both parties leaders in the House of Representatives.
Were calling on all our members and all Oklahomans across the state to keep these Oklahoma troops in their hearts, minds and prayers. Were asking prayers for their protection while theyre at war and prayers for a safe return back home when the battle is over, said Senate Republican Leader James A. Williamson of Tulsa.
Copies of the resolution will be distributed to the President of the United States, The Secretary of Defense and the Oklahoma Congressional Delegation.
