OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Julia Kirt, D-Oklahoma City, is the principal Senate author of HB 1409, which was overwhelmingly approved by the full Senate on Tuesday. The bill ensures that state employees will continue to be able to give to local philanthropic efforts through the State Charitable Campaign.
“Oklahoma nonprofits are critical members of communities across our state,” Kirt said. “Their work fills the gaps left in social services when the state does not invest comprehensively in education, healthcare, housing and other essential needs.”
Over the years the state charitable campaign has been a key way that state employees work together to serve their community.
“Philanthropic organizations help our communities thrive, and I’m grateful to pass this legislation supporting their many important missions,” Kirt said.
