OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Darrell Weaver, R-Moore, has been recognized for having a perfect voting record on bills promoting job growth and economic development in Oklahoma. The State Chamber Research Foundation awarded Weaver with a score of 100 percent in its annual RIED Report, examining members’ voting records for bills dealing with business, industry, job creation and economic growth important to the private sector.
“When we approve policy that eliminates unnecessary red tape and expenses for businesses, helps individuals get the education and training they need to work in great paying fields, like aerospace, and creates incentives for existing and emerging industries to expand, it’s good for our entire state,” Weaver said. “Organizations like the State Chamber help highlight and promote those types of bills, and I appreciate their research foundation for their efforts to support that as well.”
The RIED Report focused on how members voted on six specific pieces of legislation approved in 2023, including bills promoting workforce development; discontinuation of the franchise tax; the elimination of red tape hindering accessibility to childcare; and legislation which will encourage more high school graduates to take advantage of federal grants they’re qualified for to continue their educations.
“I think we’ve made some great strides, particularly in the area of workforce development, and I look forward to continuing those efforts in the 2024 session,” Weaver said.
