OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Ally Seifried, R-Claremore, will serve as vice chair of the Senate Education Committee for the 59th Legislature. The Education Committee handles legislative policies related to Pre-K through 12th grade education, higher education, and CareerTech programs in the state.
“When it comes to education, we must always do what is best for Oklahoma kids. I am honored to serve as vice chair and excited to work through key issues related to education,” Seifried said. “I believe parents know what is best for their children and will advocate for legislation that promotes parental rights in education.”
Seifried will also serve on the Business and Commerce, Veterans and Military Affairs, and General Government Committees, as well as the Appropriations Subcommittee on Education.
“My brother, Jamie, and sister-in-law, Coral, are first lieutenants in the United States Marine Corps, so I’m particularly passionate about issues affecting our military and veterans,” Seifried said. “Serving on the Veterans and Military Affairs Committee is very important to me, and I can’t wait to build on previous efforts to make Oklahoma a top state for our service men and women.”
Committees will begin holding regular meetings to consider bills once the legislative session officially convenes on Feb. 6.
