“This legislative session was a very successful one. I appreciated the way everyone worked together for the good of the people of the great State of Oklahoma.
We passed the largest budget in state history making key investments in education, roads, public safety and others as well as the people who provide these vital state services. We were also able to save a historic $200 million for future economic downturns, which will bring our state savings to more than $1 billion.
I was impressed with how the Senate, House and Governor’s office pulled together to come to this historic budget agreement. We even got the job done early. Per Article V of the Oklahoma Constitution, session must adjourn Sine Die by 5pm on the last Friday of May. We concluded our session on Thursday, which will provide some savings for taxpayers.
Our attention will now turn to next year’s budget and interim studies. We will continue studying certain issues in more depth in preparation of the next session. We make tough decisions in the legislature, and I value the input and encouragement I often receive from my constituents in Senate District 43. Together, we will continue making our great state even better.”
