Sen. Rosino Honors 45th Anniversary of Blessed Stanley Rother’s Martyrdom
OKLAHOMA CITY- Senator Paul Rosino, R-Oklahoma City, today released the following statement commemorating the 45th anniversary of the martyrdom of Blessed Stanley Rother.
“On July 28, 1981, Blessed Stanley Rother gave his life in service to Christ and the people he was called to serve. Forty-five years later, we continue to honor the extraordinary faith, courage, and sacrifice of this Oklahoman, who continues to inspire people around the world.
“Father Rother was described by President Trump as 'an Oklahoma farm boy, the first American-born martyr beatified by the Catholic Church, and a champion of human dignity who heroically laid down his life to bring the light of Jesus Christ to a people plagued by horrific darkness.' Those words reflect the remarkable journey of a humble Oklahoma priest who answered the call to serve, even in the face of great danger.
“I am especially proud that the Blessed Stanley Rother Shrine is located in Senate District 45, where global visitors can be found each day reflecting on his remarkable life. As we remember his life and sacrifice, the Oklahoma City Shrine provides a meaningful place for people to gather, pray, and honor a legacy that continues to inspire the faithful around the world.”
“As we mark this solemn anniversary, may we recognize Blessed Stanley Rother’s legacy and honor his martyrdom by remembering the profound impact one faithful servant can have on the world. His courage, compassion, and unwavering commitment to others remain an enduring example for all Oklahomans.”
