Sen. Nice recognized for her support of Oklahoma children

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Nikki Nice, D-Oklahoma City, has been named by the Oklahoma Institute for Child Advocacy (OICA) as a Freshman Legislator of the Year for her work on behalf of children in her district and throughout the state.

Nice has just completed her first legislative session after being elected to the Senate District 48 seat in 2024. Prior to beginning her service in the Legislature, she represented her community on the Oklahoma City Council, Ward 7. Nice said she was honored to be recognized by OICA.

“I appreciate the mission and work of the Oklahoma Institute for Child Advocacy and their dedication to being a strong voice at the Capitol for Oklahoma’s children and youth, especially those in state care, and children and teens living in poverty, facing abuse, hunger, and other barriers and limitations,” Nice said.

OICA’s mission statement is “Creating awareness, taking action and changing policy to improve the health, safety, and well-being of Oklahoma’s children.”

“I have a heart for the work OICA does,” Nice said. “I consider it a privilege to use my voice and my votes to shine a light on the needs facing so many of Oklahoma’s children and to work to create greater opportunities so they can succeed in school, in our communities, and our state throughout life.”
