Sen. John Haste, R-Broken Arrow, will serve as chair of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government and Transportation for the next two years. Senate President Pro Tempore Greg Treat, R-Oklahoma City, appointed Haste to the position for the upcoming 58th Oklahoma Legislature.
“I want to thank Pro Tempore Treat for this chairmanship and his confidence in my leadership. We know we’ll continue to face fiscal challenges this year,” Haste said. “Oklahoma’s revenues continue to be impacted by low energy prices and the COVID-19 pandemic. Our job is to be the best stewards possible with the public’s resources while meeting our constitutional mandate to write and pass a balanced budget.”
The Subcommittee on General Government and Transportation oversees budget bills for several executive and legislative agencies, including:
Haste will also hold seats on the Senate Health and Human Services Committee; the full Appropriations Committee; Transportation; and the Senate Committee on General Government.
The Legislature will meet for an organizational day on Jan. 5, then will formally convene the 2021 legislative session on Feb. 1.
