Sen. Gollihare named vice chair of Judiciary Committee

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Todd Gollihare has been named vice chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee and has been given seats on several other prominent committees in the upper chamber for the 59th Legislature. Those appointments were made by Senate President Pro Tempore Greg Treat.

Gollihare, R-Kellyville, an attorney, served as chief United States probation officer for the northern district of Oklahoma.

“I’m very grateful to have been given this vice chairmanship and I want to extend my thanks to President Pro Tempore Treat,” Gollihare said.  “I’m really pleased that I’ll be able to use my legal experience to assist our committee chair, Senator Brent Howard, of Altus, as we consider legislation assigned to Judiciary over the next two years.”

The Senate Judiciary Committee has legislative jurisdiction over matters related to courts and judges, civil and criminal procedure, and other related issues.

Gollihare, a retired Marine, was also given a seat on the Veterans and Military Affairs Committee.  He’ll serve on the Public Safety Committee, which handles policy legislation, as well as the Appropriations Subcommittee on Public Safety and Judiciary, which deals with the fiscal side of those areas.  Gollihare was also named to the Tourism and Wildlife Committee.
