Sen. Boren issues statement regarding legislative absence

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Mary Boren, D-Norman, issued the following statement regarding her absence from the Senate chamber on Monday, March 23 and Tuesday, March 24. Boren will be away from the Capitol to attend the funeral services for her beloved aunt, Melody Goode Harrison.

“During this time of personal loss, my family and I are focusing on honoring her memory and the lasting impact she had on our lives.

“While my focus is with my family, I remain deeply concerned by the ongoing challenges facing our federal workforce. As I travel, I am reminded of the dedication of our TSA agents who continue to show up for work and ensure the safety of the traveling public despite the hardship of working without pay. Their commitment to public service under such stressful conditions is a testament to their character, and it underscores the urgent need for a resolution that respects their labor and provides the financial stability they have earned.

“I look forward to returning to the Senate on Wednesday to continue my work on behalf of the people of District 16." – Sen. Mary Boren, D-Norman.
