OKLAHOMA CITY – State Sen. Mark Allen said he is looking forward to the new challenges awaiting him in the 2011 and 2012 legislative sessions. Allen, who had already been chosen to serve as Vice-Chair of the Senate Transportation Committee, has also been selected to serve on several additional committees in the 53rd Legislature.
Allen, R-Spiro, has been appointed to the Senate Standing Committees on Agriculture and Rural Development, Energy, Veterans and Military Affairs, as well Appropriations Subcommittee on Health and Human Services. Allen will also serve on the Senate Redistricting Committee in the upcoming session.
"Each of these assignments brings an opportunity to give the citizens I represent in the State Senate an even stronger voice in several crucial areas that will impact and shape Oklahoma for decades to come," Allen said.
"Even as we work to address the continuing budget challenges facing our state, we must also work to improve those services and areas of public policy that will help us grow our economy and create better jobs, especially for our rural communities," Allen said. "Their success will be Oklahoma's success."
