Rader to serve as majority caucus chair

State Senator Dave Rader was selected by his peers to serve as the majority caucus chair for the 58^th Legislature, one of the Senate’s highest leadership positions. The announcement was made Tuesday during organizational day at the Capitol where senators formally elected Senate leadership and adopted rules for the 58^th Legislature.

In this position, the Tulsa Republican will help set the legislative agenda for the Republican caucus. His responsibilities will include setting the agenda for and chairing weekly caucus meetings. Rader will also assist the presiding officers on the Senate floor oversee parliamentary procedures.

“It’s an honor to be chosen to lead our Republican caucus during the 58^th Legislature,” Rader said. “As we continue to deal with COVID-19 pandemic, it’s important that we work together to address the needs of our health care systems, small businesses and schools across the state.  I’m looking forward to collaborating with my colleagues and passing effective legislation that will improve the lives of all Oklahomans.”  

Rader was first elected to the Senate in 2016 and began his second term in November. He previously served as the majority caucus chair during the Second Session of the 57^th Legislature. He was appointed by Senate President Pro Tempore Greg Treat, R-Oklahoma City, last month to serve as the chairman of the Finance Committee. Rader will also sit on the full Appropriations Committee, Appropriations Subcommittee on Natural Resources and Regulatory Services, Public Safety and Energy Committees.
