Pugh takes oath, begins first senate term

Adam Pugh is now the official State Senator for District 41.  The Edmond Republican was sworn in during a ceremony at the Capitol on Wednesday as friends, family and other supporters looked on from the Senate gallery.

“I’m ready to get started with our work on the issues that are important to move Oklahoma forward, like education, the economy, public safety and all of the core services that are vital to the state,” Pugh said. “I’m grateful to the citizens of our district for believing in me and trusting me to be their voice at the State Capitol.”

Pugh served in the Air Force as an Air Battle Manager, where he flew on combat support missions in the global war on terror.  After leaving the military, Pugh has continued to work in the aerospace industry for some of the leading aerospace companies in the world.   He and his wife, Sarah, have two young daughters and they are active members of Life Church in Edmond.  Pugh is also involved with the Edmond Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Edmond Young Professionals, Whiz Kids, and the Food Bank of Oklahoma.

Senate President Pro Tempore Designate Mike Schulz said he was looking forward to working with Pugh in the 2017 session. 

“Senator Pugh will be a strong voice on behalf of District 41 in the State Senate.  His experience will be a valuable asset to our caucus as we work to build a stronger and more prosperous Oklahoma,” said Schulz, R-Altus.

The Senate will hold a one day organizational meeting on January 3, and the 2017 session will formally get underway on February 6.
