Oklahoma City Chosen for 200 National Legislative Conference Oklahomas capital has been chosen as host city for the Council of State Governments 200 Annual State Trends and Leadership Forum. Thats according to State Senator Gilmer Capps, who announced the selection on Tuesday.
Ive been a member of CSG for many years. Throughout that time Ive lobbied to bring one of the annual meetings to our state. What better time than during our centennial year? This will bring positive national attention to Oklahoma, said Capps, DSnyder.
Capps, who is Assistant Majority Floor Leader in the Senate, said CSG includes government officials from all 0 states including all three branches of government.
This conference will attract as many as 00 visitors with an economic impact of up to million. But its also a chance to showcase the many attractions Oklahoma City and our entire state has to offer, explained Senator Capps.
I think it will impress our visitors and help persuade them to bring others back to our state again and again.
Blake Wade is Executive Director of the States Centennial Commission, which is charged with planning the many events marking the states 00th anniversary. Wade said the commission would help coordinate the volunteers needed to host the conference as well as help arrange activities for those attending.
Our centennial is a perfect time to host a national conference. With all the development going on in Oklahoma City in Bricktown and all the MAPS projects, we have more to offer than ever before. I think this is a very exciting opportunity both for the city and for our entire state, said Wade.
