OKLAHOMA CITY – State Sen. Gary Stanislawski will have several new duties when the 2011 session formally gets underway in February. The Tulsa Republican has been tapped for service in key committees for the 53rd Legislature.
Stanislawski announced Wednesday that in addition to serving as Chairman of the Transportation Committee, he will also serve as the Vice-Chair of the Education Committee. He will also be serving on the Retirement and Insurance Committee, as well as deciding budget issues on both the full Senate Appropriations Committee and the Appropriations Subcommittee on Education
"I know that Tulsans want to know what we can do to help Oklahoma's recovery from the recession. The answer is jobs--and I believe one of our greatest tools is to continue to find new and innovative ways to deliver the best education possible, including further exploration of alternative methods such as distance learning via the Internet," Stanislawski said.
In addition to his committee work, Stanislawski will also serve as Majority Whip for the Senate Republican Caucus in the upcoming Legislature.
"I am extremely honored to be entrusted with these responsibilities in the State Senate," Stanislawski said. "It means the citizens of Senate District 35 will now have even greater input in the legislative process, and in formulating public policy that will truly move our state forward."
