Legislators invite public to legislative breakfasts

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Jason Smalley and Rep. Kevin Wallace have planned several legislative breakfasts throughout Seminole and Pottawatomie Counties in March and April.  The public is welcome and encouraged to attend these to get legislative updates as well as ask questions or share their concerns about legislative matters.

“It’s so important that we’re in constant contact with our constituents so that we know their needs, wants and concerns especially during session as we’re deciding and voting on legislation this session,” said Smalley, R-Stroud.  “While we can always be reached at our Capitol offices, it’s nice to be able to sit down in a casual setting with local business owners, community leaders and neighbors to discuss issues important to our area.”

The schedule is as follows:

March 9       Wellston     Pecan Café, 306 2nd Street

March 30     Meeker      The Marketplace, 602 Carl Hubbell Blvd

April 6         Prague       Prague Municipal Building, 820 Jim Thorpe Blvd.

April 20      Davenport    Dan’s BBQ, 706 Broadway (Hwy 66)

April 27       Chandler    First United Methodist Church, 122 W. 10th Street

The legislators noted that if there are any communities in Lincoln County that would like to host a legislative breakfast to contact their offices.

“We hope local citizens will take the time to attend these important meetings or schedule more to share their ideas and questions as well as update us on what’s happening in their communities,” said Wallace, R-Wellston.  “We want to hear what issues are important to our local communities so we can be sure to represent their best interests at the state Capitol.”
