Jonathan Wingard to serve on key Senate committees

OKLAHOMA CITY — Sen. Jonathan Wingard, R-Ada, will serve on several of the Oklahoma Senate’s most high-profile committees.

Senate Pro Tem-Elect Lonnie Paxton recently appointed Wingard to the Senate Veterans and Military Affairs Committee, Public Safety Committee and the Agriculture and Wildlife Committee. He will also be one of six senators on the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Education, which oversees funding for common education and public colleges and universities.

Wingard expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve on these four committees and said he’s eager to get to work.

“I’m deeply honored to sit on these committees that play a key role in improving Oklahomans’ lives and shaping the state’s future,” Wingard said. “As a longtime member of the Oklahoma Army National Guard, I have unique insight into the challenges facing our veterans and their families. I will work tirelessly on the Veterans and Military Affairs Committee to ensure all service members receive the support and recognition they deserve. I also look forward to being a strong voice for Senate District 13 on agriculture, public safety and education issues.”

These committee assignments will be in effect for the upcoming session of the 60th Oklahoma Legislature, which begins with an organizational day on Jan. 7, 2025. The full legislative session will then start on Feb. 3, 2025.
