OKLAHOMA CITY – Recently, Senate Concurrent Resolution 22, authored by Shane Jett, R-Shawnee, successfully passed through both the Senate and House of Representatives. The resolution, which highlights the valor and sacrifice of Native American warriors, garnered widespread support from legislators in both chambers.
“Native American warriors have played an integral role in shaping our nation's history, and it is imperative that we recognize their contributions and honor their service,” Jett said. “SCR 22 not only pays tribute to the bravery and dedication of Native American veterans but also acknowledges their enduring legacy.”
As part of the resolution, November 23, 2024, is proclaimed as Oklahoma Native American Warrior Day, dedicated to honoring all Native American warriors. The Force 50 Foundation, a leading organization in empowering veterans with healthcare access, resources, and recognition, is spearheading a series of events throughout November, which the resolution encourages Oklahomans take part in.
“I am proud to have sponsored this resolution to officially recognize and celebrate the bravery and resilience of Native American warriors,” Jett said. “I urge all Oklahomans and businesses to join in supporting the Force 50 Foundation's efforts to make November events successful.”
The resolution was carried by Rep. Jon Echols, R-Oklahoma City, in the House.
