OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Carri Hicks, D-Oklahoma City, and Rep. Marilyn Stark, R-Bethany, announced Wiley Post Airport had been selected to receive a $750,000 infrastructure grant from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The grant will support the reconstruction of the airport’s tower.
“Aviation is our state’s second largest economic driver, and Wiley Post is an integral part of this industry. These funds are vital to Wiley Post’s ability to modernize its infrastructure,” Hicks said. “The demand for these federal resources was far greater than the available funding, so this $750,000 grant is significant, and will help ensure the airport’s continued growth and success.”
The funding is part of the federal bipartisan infrastructure law. Twenty FCT airports in 15 states, including Wiley Post, will share a total of $20 million for tower-related projects.
"This grant is a tremendous step toward modernizing the infrastructure at Wiley Post Airport and setting the airport up for the future. An updated tower is essential to the ongoing success of this facility,” Stark said. “These upgrades will improve safety and efficiency and boost Bethany and Oklahoma City’s ability to support economic growth. I look forward to seeing its positive impact on travelers, businesses and the aviation industry in our region."
