Haste Applauds Launch of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Wagoner County

OKLAHOMA CITY – Recently, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library became available to children in Wagoner County. This early childhood literacy program has been made available through a partnership with the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) and Broken Arrow Neighbors. Their new Neighbors Book Nook initiative will now serve over 4,300 children across eight Wagoner County zip codes.

The Imagination Library, which has been successfully implemented across 56 counties in Oklahoma and partially in six additional counties, offers free, carefully selected books each month to mail to children aged zero to five. This program seeks to encourage a love of reading and lay the foundation for future educational and economic success.

Senate Appropriations Vice Chair Sen. John Haste, R-Broken Arrow, played a large role in getting the Imagination Library into Oklahoma.

“Expanding the Imagination Library to Wagoner County is a major win for our community,” Haste said. “This program opens up a world of opportunities for our youngest Oklahomans by encouraging early literacy and helping to make their future more prosperous. I’m proud to support a project that nurtures our children’s potential.”

Dolly Parton’s vision, which began in 1995, has now reached thousands of children across Oklahoma, contributing to a growing network that OSDE estimates currently serves approximately 83,000 children statewide.
