Coleman takes oath, begins first Senate term

Bill Coleman is now officially on the job as State Senator for District 10.  The Ponca City Republican was sworn in during a ceremony at the Capitol on Wednesday alongside friends, family and other supporters in the Senate Chamber.

“I want to sincerely thank the citizens of District 10 for giving me the opportunity to represent them and be their voice at our state Capitol,” said Haste.  “I’m looking forward to getting to work to help boost tourism around the state and expand our economy to help provide more resources for our classrooms and teachers as well as other core state services.”

Coleman graduated from Pawhuska High School. He and his wife, Helen, raised their three children in Ponca City.  He owns and operates Team Radio Marketing Group, a family of five North Central radio stations. Helen is a former teacher.

Senate President Pro Tempore Designate Greg Treat said he was looking forward to working with Coleman.

“Senator Coleman represents the core values that make Oklahoma great.  His professional experience will be a tremendous asset to our caucus.   I know Senator Coleman will be a strong voice on behalf of District 10 in the State Senate,” said Treat, R-Oklahoma City.

The Senate will hold a one day organizational meeting on January 8, and the 2019 session will formally get underway on February 4.
