Chuck Hall, Ty Burns congratulate Morrison Elementary on Blue Ribbon School recognition

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Chuck Hall, R-Perry, and Rep. Ty Burns, R-Pawnee, released the following statements on Tuesday celebrating Morrison Elementary School being named a National Blue Ribbon School.

Morrison Elementary was one of four Oklahoma schools to earn the top national honor awarded to campuses that excel in academic achievement. The U.S. Department of Education announced Monday that just 356 schools across the U.S. received the Blue Ribbon designation this year.

“Congratulations to Morrison Public Schools on this remarkable accolade that clearly establishes Morrison Elementary as one of the premier schools in America,” said Sen. Chuck Hall, R-Perry. “This recognition reflects the unwavering dedication of Morrison’s exceptional teachers, visionary administrators and supportive staff to create an environment where students excel academically and grow into well-rounded kids. This outstanding achievement also honors the entire community and sets a shining example of what we can accomplish when we come together to prioritize education.”

Morrison Public Schools District stretches nearly 150 miles across Noble, Payne and Pawnee counties. After significant community input, the district transitioned to four-day school weeks during the 2016-2017 school year.

"This is just another example of Morrison Elementary School setting the standard," Burns said. "As a parent with children at the school, I see firsthand this success is a direct result of the dedication and hard work of the principal, staff, and teachers. Congratulations to everyone involved. It's a proud day for our community and a clear reminder of what we can accomplish when we work together."
