Capitol Blood Drive to be held Tuesday

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Blake Cowboy Stephens, R-Tahlequah, encourages the public to visit the Capitol on Tuesday, May 14th, to participate in the Legislators for Life Blood Drive, hosted by Our Blood Institute (OBI). The drive will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the second floor rotunda.

“This friendly competition will support Our Blood Institute, who supplies blood donations to hundreds of hospitals across the state,” Stephens said. “Many hospitals across the state have seen an influx of patients following devasting tornadoes that occurred over the past few weeks, making it incredibly important to donate at this time. We hope you’ll join us for this year’s blood drive and support OBI’s efforts to save lives across the region.”

The Senate and House of Representatives will compete to see which chamber can collect the most donations. The legislative body with the most donations per capita will receive a traveling trophy to take back to their chamber.

“I hope to see the Senate bring home another win, but ultimately, I hope we can exceed our goals and collect as many donations as possible,” Stephens added.

Donors will receive a custom t-shirt for their participation. Appointments can be booked in advance by clicking here.
