Burns tours Wildhorse Mountain Wind Facility

OKLAHOMA CITY – State Sen. George Burns, R-Pollard, recently joined representatives of Southern Power to tour the Wildhorse Mountain Wind Facility, which is in Pushmataha County.

The southern Oklahoma facility consists of 29 wind turbines. The energy generated by the operation is sold to the Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corporation (AECC), which is then used to provide power to 17 electric cooperatives, supplying electricity to more than 500,000 homes, farms and businesses in southeastern Oklahoma and Arkansas.

“I enjoyed touring and learning more about this wind facility, which is crucial to ensuring many across Senate District 5 are able to turn on their lights and run their air conditioning,” Burns said. “Our area thrives because of strong partnerships like those between Southern Power and AECC, and I look forward to working with these groups to establish positive legislation that will continue to benefit all Oklahomans.”
