OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. George Burns, R-Pollard, has introduced Senate Bill 1953, a measure aimed at ensuring compliance with Oklahoma law regarding the leasing of agricultural land by aliens.
Under SB 1953, any alien leasing agricultural land must sign an affidavit confirming their compliance with state law and asserting that no funding source violates state or federal regulations. The Attorney General is tasked with creating separate affidavit forms for individuals, business entities, or trusts involved in such leases.
“Senate Bill 1953 aims to provide clarity and accountability in the leasing of agricultural land by aliens within our state,” Burns said. “By requiring these affidavits, we can ensure that such leases are conducted in accordance with Oklahoma law and uphold the interests of our agricultural community.”
The provisions of SB 1953 do not apply to aliens who are or will become bona fide residents of Oklahoma.
SB 1953 is available to be considered.
