Burns, Hamilton Mourn Fallen LeFlore County Deputy

OKLAHOMA CITY – Senator George Burns and Senator Warren Hamilton offered condolences to the family of LeFlore County Sheriff's Deputy Thomas "Walker" LeMay, who was killed in the line of duty Sunday.

Burns, R-Pollard, and Hamilton, R-McCurtain, each represent portions of LeFlore County and expressed how this loss has impacted the community.

“Deputy LeMay dedicated his life to protecting others, and his loss is felt across all of LeFlore County,” Burns said. “We offer our sincerest condolences to the family of Deputy LeMay and stand with his loved ones, his fellow deputies, and the entire community during this difficult time.”

Hamilton, who serves as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff in Haskell County, said the loss impacts the entire law enforcement community.

“John 15:13 says, ‘Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.’ Deputy LeMay embodied that truth, ultimately giving his life in service to others,” Hamilton said. “His sacrifice will not be forgotten, and his fellow law enforcement officers, alongside the community he served, stand together in his honor.”

The lawmakers also offered their prayers and support for Wister Police Chief William “Andy” Thompson, who was injured during the incident and is now recovering.

The LeFlore County Sheriff’s Office shared that 30-year-old LeMay was “a true servant of the people, a loving son, brother, and father to his most precious baby girl.” His life will be honored during a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, at the Heavener High School Gymnasium.
