Burns Announces Legislation to Dedicate Memorial Bridge to U.S. Veteran

OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. George Burns, R-Pollard, announced the introduction of Senate Bill 41, aimed at honoring the service and sacrifice of a distinguished U.S. veteran by dedicating a bridge in their memory. The proposed legislation seeks to name the bridge over the Kiamichi River on U.S. Highway 259 in Le Flore County as the PFC Lewis Othel Branscum Memorial Bridge.

“This bill is a gesture of appreciation for PFC Branscum and all veterans, recognizing the sacrifices they make in defense of freedom and our way of life,” Burns said. “It is my hope that this dedication will inspire both current and future generations to honor the sacrifices of those who served and continue to serve, while also standing as a testament to PFC Branscum’s legacy and ultimate sacrifice.”

Senate Bill 41 is eligible for consideration in the 2025 legislative session, which begins Feb. 3.
