Bergstrom tours agricultural operations utilizing conservation practices

State Sen. Micheal Bergstrom, R-Adair, joined Rep. Rusty Cornwell, R-Vinita, Trey Lam, Oklahoma Conservation Commission executive director, and Dale Tullis, Craig County Conservation District vice chairman, on Monday to tour several agricultural operations enacting conservation methods.

The tour exposed the legislators to services offered by the Oklahoma Conservation Commission, including technical assistance and cost-sharing opportunities for conservation practices.

The group visited Enis Cattle Company, Vinita; JCL Land and Cattle, Welch; Morgan Brothers Farm, Welch; and farms owned and operated by Stan Corn, Welch; and David Greer, Welch.

Conservation practices employed on the operations included rotational grazing, concrete trough waterers, soil testing and cover crops.

“The agricultural landscape across Senate District 1 is robust and diverse,” Bergstrom said. “I’m proud of the ways our farmers and ranchers have adapted to innovate technologies and practices to conserve our lands and ensure their prosperity for years to come.”
