OKLAHOMA CITY – On Wednesday, Sen. Micheal Bergstrom, R-Adair, took the oath of office to begin another term serving Senate District 1. The ceremony took place in the Senate chamber, led by Sen. Brent Howard, the chamber’s chief presiding officer, with family and friends present to show their support.
Bergstrom, who was first elected in 2016, is an experienced leader dedicated to the values and concerns of northeast Oklahoma. With a background that includes a decade in journalism and nearly two decades in public education, Bergstrom brings a commitment to principled governance and deep ties to his community. His legislative work has earned recognition from multiple organizations for his dedication to public safety, agricultural issues, regulatory reform, protecting citizens constitutional rights, and other important legislative priorities.
“It’s a privilege to serve the people of Senate District 1, and I’m deeply grateful for the continued trust they’ve placed in me,” Bergstrom said. “I look forward to building on our work to support Oklahoma’s families, businesses, and values in the upcoming session.”
The 60th session of the Oklahoma Legislature begins on Jan. 7, when lawmakers will gather for organizational proceedings, with the full legislative session set to commence on Feb. 3.
