Sen. Dugger recognized for 100 percent support of agriculture, rural issues

The Oklahoma Farm Bureau (OKFB) has named their 100 Percent Club members for 2017, which includes members of the legislature voting 100 percent for measures OKFB as identified as important to farmers, ranchers and rural Oklahoma during the legislative session.  Sen. Tom Dugger, R-Stillwater, is among those lawmakers with a perfect voting record.

“Agriculture continues to be a major driver in Oklahoma’s economy, and that’s certainly true for Senate District 21,” Dugger said. “Supporting the efforts of Oklahoma farmers and ranchers and protecting our rural way of life is extremely important for Payne County.”

Legislators were scored on three measures, including Senate Bill 147 which gives municipalities the authority to waive the three-mile setback for concentrated animal feeding operations; Senate Bill 326 prohibits the importation and possession of exotic swine in Oklahoma; and Senate Bill 593, which closes a loophole dealing with the wind industry.

“Oklahoma Farm Bureau is thankful to have excellent representation as we continue to fight for our members at the state Capitol,” said Tom Buchanan, OKFB president.  “We applaud these lawmakers for their efforts to protect agriculture and rural Oklahoma.”

“There’s a deep connection between agriculture, Oklahoma’s history and our identity today.  It’s given us the values that have shaped this state and made it great—a willingness to work hard, sacrifice and persevere in the face of tremendous challenges,” Dugger said. “I am proud to vote in support of rural Oklahoma and look forward to working with our farmers, ranchers and OKFB in the 2018 legislative session.”
