OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. John Michael Montgomery, R-Lawton, has officially begun his second term in the Oklahoma Senate. Lt. Gov. Matt Pinnell presided over the swearing in ceremony, which was held Wednesday in the Senate Chamber. Oklahoma Supreme Court Chief Justice Richard Darby administered the oath.

“I am honored my constituents have once again entrusted me to serve my home community in the Senate,” Montgomery said. “My priorities in the upcoming session are simple, support economic development in our state, provide tax relief, fund schools and pass a fiscally conservative state budget.”

Montgomery currently serves as the chair of the Retirement and Insurance Committee and vice chairman of the General Government and Transportation Committee. He is also a member of the Appropriations, Finance and Veterans and Military Affairs Committees. Montgomery also serves as one of four co-chairs of the bicameral Future Caucus, with his focus being on financial literacy and economic wellness. His legislative accomplishments include leading efforts to boost Oklahoma’s hydrogen industry and creating incentives through tax credits for hydrogen engineering and the use of hydrogen-powered vehicles.

The full Senate will meet Jan. 3 for an organizational day to officially elect chamber leaders and adopt rules for the legislative session that will begin on Feb. 6.
